Born 1975, Zambia. Lives & Works in United Kingdom.

At Grizedale

Nick and Simon worked together on a residency in 2002. The duo developed a project which did not come to fruition: Responding to the local situation of post-foot-and-mouth they wanted to make an animal feeder in the style of Donald Judd with a David Smith finish, and integrate the object into normal use. However, the cost was too high and although the local, usually taciturn farmer was rather keen, it was too much of an art reference/joke to seem worthwhile.

Since then they have stopped working collaboratively. Nick is a sculptor, making gestural, semi-abstract forms littered with references to modern and contemporary art history, often displayed on screen-printed tables and plinths with all the panache of a young Brancusi.

Simon uses lo-fi digital technology and familiar references to architecture and modernism, towards work that is broadly defined as sculpture.
